. The complaints were upheld and he was forced to issue an apology to those who were offended, but he did not apologise to Kingston herself. The Press Complaints Commission said that they were unable to act on complaints made about his Twitter comments saying "there is a jurisdictional issue with complaints about journalists’ Twitter accounts, which the Commission remains in the process of examining. As it currently stands, such accounts do not fall formally within our remit." The PCC are still deciding whether to take further action about the article itself.

Alex Kingston has since decided to pursue the complaint against Shelley.
