Plot

The story of this serial is based on the life of the protagonist, Jasmeet "Jassi" Walia, who is an unattractive bespectacled nerd
Nerd
Nerd is a derogatory slang term for an intelligent but socially awkward and obsessive person who spends time on unpopular or obscure pursuits, to the exclusion of more mainstream activities. Nerds are considered to be awkward, shy, and unattractive...

with braces over her teeth and an odd style of dressing. She is a somewhat naive but intelligent woman. She is constantly mocked by her more beautiful female (and sometimes male) colleagues, while being in love with her boss, Armaan Suri.

The show chronicles her in the workplace and how she wins the hearts of her colleagues and her boss, mainly due to her warm and humorous nature, and is plotted against by her superior Mallika, who feels insecure about her post.

Jassi eventually is proposed to by Purab Mehra, and she agrees to marry him because she feels that she had reached a deadend with her love for Armaan (Apoorva Agnihotri). Later Purab's friend comes and she tells Purab that he can't he marry Jassi. Influenced, he goes away. Jassi hates Purab now. Later, Jassi finds out that all the sympathy Armaan was showering on her, and all the romantic poems that were sung to her were just a means of manipulating her to alter the company ledger to cover immense losses, and she leaves. She runs away to Mauritius to escape this nightmare. There she meets Purab. She then gets a total makeover and later they become friends.

She comes back to India as Jessica Bedi. She starts a company and wins over Gulmhor. Nandu,
her best friend, doesn't know she's back, but she tells him later.

When Mallika finds out, she plots and gets Jessica arrested on grounds of her murdering Jassi. When she proves to the contrary, and therefore reveals that Jassi and Jessica are the same person, she and the then-near dead Armaan reunite.

Later, Armaan and Jassi are going to get married. Before that, she goes to Malaysia because Purab has cancer. After he dies, she returns, depressed. Purav's friend, C.J., vows to take revenge, as he blames Jassi for his friend's death. He brings her to Nanital for a meeting. Armaan, arriving later, sees C.J. and Jassi together in the same room (Jassi is unconscious) that C.J. was planning to use.

Armaan suspects Jassi. They have a fight and, in anger, she goes to Nanital on the day of the wedding. Jassi doesn't come back. C.J. then writes a fake letter stating they have eloped and are getting married. In anger Armaan marries Malika because Jassi is not there. Jassi thinks badly of Armaan, because C.J. has told her that Armaan has married Malika. Jassi does not know the truth about C.J. until later.

Jassi stays in Nanital under the name of Neha Shastri. There she meets Raghav, a guitar player. He begins to like her. His father wants him to be married, and he is also sick, so they pretend that they are married. Armaan thinks that they are really married. And again after a lot of time, it's revealed she's not married. Before they marry, Mallika is killed while trying to murder Jassi.

Armaan and Jassi marry. Raghav dies, killed by C.J who is Raghav's brother. Jassi gets pregnant. Armaan and Jassi lose the company ownership to Aryan. Jassi miscarries in the pressure. Armaan leaves home to get a job and is helped by Shiuli (who loved him) to get back Gulmohur. Aryan dies towards the end, too. And the two live happily ever after.

A sequel to the show is planned in 2012. The sequel will show a gender-reversed version of the original, with Armaan playing an ugly middle-class guy who becomes secretary to Gulmohur's CEO, the rich, famous and beautiful Jasmeet Walia. The sequel has been tentatively titled Armaan Jaisa Koi Nahin and will replace the long-running series C.I.D. on Sony Entertainment Television.
