This trunk road was previously a two lane road with very small volume of vehicles until it became second most important road besides the PLUS Expressway in Kinta District particularly to most of the settlements and towns along the road. Gradually Jalan Gopeng has been upgraded physically and aesthetically. Street lights, dividers and wider road shoulders were already built to cater the rising number of vehicle using it. During festive seasons and school breaks, it will be a common scene to have mild traffic congestion but when it came towards the end of the holidays, everything will start to cramp with most of these vehicles heading towards the nearest PLUS Expressway Toll to enter the highway.
