Western segment

The western segment of State Road 8 connects State Road 2 and U.S. Route 231 in Hebron with State Road 17 near Plymouth. It is 42 miles (67.6 km) long.

Eastern segment

The eastern segment of State Road 8 is 34 miles (54.7 km) long, and it connects State Road 9 in Albion to the Ohio state line at Ohio State Route 18.

Western section

In the early 1940s, the road's western terminus was at the Illinois

Eastern section

In the 1950s, SR 8 started in Lake Wawasee
