Demographics

As of the census of 2010, there were 14,850 people and 5,047 households in the city. The racial makeup of the city was 93.50% White, 1.30% African American, 0.10% Native American, 1.30% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 2.40% from other races, and 1.20% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 8.20% of the population.

As of 2009, the median income for a household in the town was $90,517 while the mean income for a household in the town was $97,376. Additionally, the median income for a family was $95,998 and the mean income for a family was the second highest in Lake County at $105,701 (with Munster, Indiana

Education

St. John is served by both the Lake Central School Corporation and the Hanover Community School Corporation. Four of the ten Lake Central schools are located in Saint John. These include:
