In simple terms, electricity is produced when steam drives the steam turbine generator. The oil is burned in 4 large boilers to produce this steam. HUBCO received a loan agreement of US $ 425 million from the Government of Pakistan via the National Development Finance Corporation

In 1996, a multi-effect distillation plant, manufactured by Sasakura-Japan, was commissioned, with a capacity of 3,600 cubic meters of water per day.
