Gerard and Nina purchased Hotel Terravina, in the New Forest near Southampton, in early 2007. They renovated it using local craftspeople.

Nina qualified from Westminster Hotel School, and started her career in Paris

where she met Basset. She was an AA
Hotel Inspector at the age of 21, and left to help set up the Hotel du Vin in Winchester. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality.
