Holmen contains many wooded areas, hills, and bluffs, typical of the Driftless Area, or "Coulee Region," as local residents call it. The Mississippi River

History

Holmen was incorporated as a village on May 7, 1946.
It grew at a steady pace until the 1980s, when more rapid growth began. As of 2007, Holmen was among the fastest-growing municipalities in the state, and the Holmen School District had become second largest in attendance to La Crosse
