Humanities Center

The Humanities Center is one of the Specialty Centers of Henrico County, focusing on the connection between literature, history, philosophy, and the arts. Students in the Humanities Center also get to practice their humanitarian skills because they perform volunteer work every year that they participate in the center. The program provides students with an opportunity to pursue a rigorous interdisciplinary academic experience in the humanities while fulfilling graduation requirements for an advanced diploma with a Specialty Center seal. It is claimed that the students in this center thrive in the discussion based classes with academically focused peers, and because the center is located at Hermitage High School, students can also take advantage of all the sports, clubs, and resources of a large high school.

MCJROTC

The MCJROTC program has won many awards in many activities, such as, but not limited to, physical training. The program emphasizes teamwork, and knowledge, as well as physical fitness. At some point during the school year, marksmanship training is started, although students aren't required to take part in this activity. The rifles used shoot lead pellets, and are not real firearms. The program is known for its physical fitness team, shooting team, drill team, and color guards.
