MCJROTC

For 20 years the MCJROTC Springer Battalion has been training young men and women to be better citizens in their communities. Cadets in MCJROTC can participate in many events throughout the year. There is an award winning Drill team, Color Guard, and Rifle Team. The team also participates in community service throughout the year. The instructors are MGySgt. Floyd Gladden and CWO3 David Resendiz.

Renovations

The renovation process started in 2006 and is expected to be completed in August 2008. The renovation plans are modernizing the current building. Under the renovations the windows, floors, walls, electrical, and heating and air will be replaced, and a new wing is being constructed for the English department. The main office will also get a face lift, moving it to the front of the building, making it safe for students and teachers. Also added, is a new surveillance system. This is important for the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. The guidance department will also be upgraded. They are located in the main hall way where the main office used to be located with more space and privacy. The money that was put into the project was well spent and it is all for the bettering of education for everyone at Highland Springs High School.

100th Year Anniversary

The 2007 year marked HSHS 100th year anniversary. HSHS first opened in 1907 and has gone through many expansions and changes. The school had many events and activities throughout the year celebrating this special milestone.
