. The lyrics and title of the songs are about the fantasies the band had about touring in America. It was one of the main reasons that made the British fans of the band accuse them for being more interested in having success in America rather than the UK. However, Rick Savage has claimed in an interview that Joe Elliot was literally looking in a map and listing the city names that sounded good when he was writing the lyrics to the song. There were no intentions to make the song more appealing to American audiences.

The single's B-side, "Good Morning Freedom" has never been released in any other format and is only available on this single. The song featured on a BBC studio session recorded in 1979 and is available on youtube.

An alternate recording of the song Hello America appears as a B-Side on the Wasted single.
