The school has recently been awarded Specialist Status in Maths and Computing, which will be used as a vehicle for improving standards and quality of provision for the school and the community.

In Spring 2010, the whole school will begin a complete refurbishment as part of the National Building Schools for the Future Scheme and it will be completed by Autumn 2012.
