Over 400 literature searches were performed by medical librarians, the majority in support of patient care and/or clinical decision making.

Each of four quarterly meetings of the initiative has a commissioned play written by a culturally appropriate playwright, created in collaboration with community members. . In 2010, IME produced a retreat for hospital physicians at the Mixed Blood Theatre in Minneapolis, MN. A play commissioned by IME and written by Syl Jones was included. The Allina health system has contracted with IME to provide BlackBox CME events for its physicians learning about the patient experience.
