Headlands Beach State Park is a public beach in Mentor and Painesville Township, Ohio. The beach is the longest natural beach on Lake Erie. The Cleveland Plain Dealer has ranked Headlands Beach as "Ohio's Best Beach".
The mile-long beach attracts more than 2 million visitors a year. The breakwall at the eastern end of the park, frequented by local fisherman, is home to the Fairport Harbor West Breakwater Light. Other amenities include hiking trails, a playground, and the Headlands Dunes State Nature Preserve.

Geography
Headlands Beach State Park is located at at the northern terminus of State Route 44. The park is located between the Mentor Marsh and the Grand River. It is adjacent to the Fairport Harbor Coast Guard station and the local Morton Salt mine.
