Geography

Hatiya is located at 22.3667°N 91.1250°E. It has 47970 units of house hold and total area 1508.23 km².
The island has a small and beautiful island under its area, known as Nijhum Dwip.

Traditional transport: Noakhali to Hatiya by sea-truck and Chittagong to Hatiya by Steamer,Dhaka to hatiya by launch. Buses in main roads, baby taxies, trucks and rickshawas Palanquin (extinct), bullock cart (nearly extinct) and boat.

Hats, bazars and fairs Total number of hats and bazars are 52, most noted of which are Oskhali, Afazia, Tamruddi, Chowmuhani, Sagaria, Jahajmara and Nalchira Bazar; fair 2.

Main exports Rice, coconut, betel nut, banana, betel leaf, chilli and hilsa fish, and most other fish.

NGO activities Operationally important NGOs are brac, proshika, CARE, caritas.

There is only one govt.college,Hatiya dwip govt. college,and three other college.
