. When hotel security questions the men, Bill takes the blame for Hank and says that he was the mooner. He is taken to apologize to Richards, but she finds it amusing, relating that she knew a man in World War II

The gang comes home early, prompting Peggy to panic and dispose of the charcoal. In the alley, the guys are shocked to learn that Bill is now dating Governor Richards. The two have a whirlwind romance, attending a number of high society functions together. At one event, though, Bill runs into his ex-wife Lenore (Ellen Barkin

), who wants to worm her way back into Bill's life now that he has gained a higher profile. Meanwhile, Hank finds evidence of the charcoal use and tests Peggy's loyalty to him by forcing her to choose between burgers prepared over the respective flames of charcoal and propane; whereupon she lies and says that the propane burgers taste better, to keep the peace.

Bill soon gets caught trying to juggle Richards and Lenore. After confessing that she had known all along that it was Hank who had mooned her but admired Bill's character in taking blame for a friend, Richards breaks up with him. Bill hosts a birthday party and tries to convince an ever-fickle Lenore to remarry him, but Richards shows up and convinces Bill that he should have a backbone and stop letting people walk all over him. Lenore starts to throw a jealous fit, but Bill proceeds to moon her from Richards' limo. Although their relationship is over, Richards gives him a ride to his house and amiably wishes him luck.
