tribe. History tells that this place was a previously named as "Kella". Later on it was changed into "Gunjial". Elders say that this village possesses great historic importance because Sher Shah Suri, a powerful Afghan King once passed from that place. He stayed at this place for many months and built up a well called as "Waan". Some signs can be found even today. Things change with time and same applies to this village also. Initially there wasn't any type of deep interest towards education and other progress in that village but now things have been totally changed. Twenty to thirty years back the people were suppressed due to the feudal mentality of the zamindar class. Mainly Bandial tribe having rich lands and resources were prevailed on the local politics but a Son of the soil named Capt(R). Fateh Khan Gunjial raised a slogan of "free minds and free souls with equal opportunities". Despite having less resources he jumped into the battlefield of local politics. Not too successful to gain some authority but was successful to give a voice to the people of Gunjial. He later on called upon his nephew Malik Atta Muhammad Gunjial, who was then busy in Saudi Arabia doing his own business to come and take this responsibility. He came back and participated in the local politics. Malik Qadir Bakhsh Gunjial also took a stand against bandial family and supported Malik Atta Mohammad Gunjial. Malik Qadir Bakhsh Gunjial was one of the big landowners of Gunjial. His two sons Malik Zafar Iqbal Gunjial and Malik Ehsan Gunjial also participated in local politics. Then younger brother of Malik Atta Mohammad Gunjial Saleh Muhammad Gunjial also contributed to Gunjial politics. He was elected three times as MPA and also took office as Minister for Environment. Son of Capt(R). Fateh Khan Gunjial, Malik Muhammad Iqbal Gunjial is also a mobilized social personality in Gunjial at the present time but due to some political conflicts within the Gunjial family, now Gunjial is deprived of any type of lead in the present political scene.Son of Malik Qadir Bakhsh Gunjial

Malik Ehsan Gunjial WAS defeated by Malik Karam Elahi Bandial in the 2007-2008 Elections. Comparatively people have more money and a sense to educate themselves in this present hour but Once again Gunjial is tried to be sent in the age of deprivation and backwardness and today once again Gunjial is in need of a Capt(R). Fateh Khan Gunjial.
