, 20 kilometers of the city of La Romana in the east of the Country, itself there be the population of Guaymate. It arose like municipal demarcation February 27, 1963, as dependence of it created La Romana Province.

Today, with its flaming denomination, Guaymate prepares to revive of the dream in which slept for many years. And its population is prompted in the North part, in the lands yielded to the municipality La Romana head Office. The name of Guaymate came, upon saying of many, because in the mountains that encircled existed him a tree that the locals called guamate. With the name Guamate -they say many-the first inhabitants appointed the settlement, that then they changed for that of Guaymate, adding him the "and". This last denomination was guaranteed when passed to be section of the municipality of La Romana.

Nowadays Guaymate is a flourishing locality that counts on many commercial houses, where the inhabitants respond constantly that oven in nearby outbuildings of La Romana head Office.
