Groundwork Thames Valley (GTV) is a branch of Groundwork UK
, which is an independent local charity that works to improve the quality of the local environment
and the lives of local people.

A wide range of work is undertaken, ranging from small community schemes to major national and regional programmes. The many programmes include:
- a safe-cycling programme for young people in Hounslow

- a team of volunteer gardeners (Healing Gardens) that transforms the gardens of disabled and elderly people
- landscape architecture in projects that include transforming Jersey Gardens

- educational programmes with schools
- capacity development with community
groups
GTV is also the lead partner in the Colne Valley regional park
– administering 50 miles of countryside to the west of London and running frequent events to encourage visitors to enjoy the countryside, canals and lakes.
Primary Care Trust. Its mini-habitats and horticultural therapy rooms benefit groups and individuals of all abilities.
GTV has three social enterprises:
- Blue Sky Development & Regeneration
- West London Floating Classroom (WLFC)
- Reading Motor Education Project (RMEP)
- Blue Sky is a not-for-profit company that employs ex-offenders in grounds maintenance contracts.
- WLFC operates a wide-beam electric canal boat along the Grand Union Canal
. It teaches schools and community groups about the environment and history of the Canals.
- RMEP teaches basic motor mechanical skills to young people at risk of exclusion from schools.
