, Greenvale has been up until recently known as a semi rural area, characterised by larger farm holdings to the north of the town centre (past Somerton Road). Three of these farms (the one bordering Aitken College is known as "Hacienda") are now set for development into a new housing estate, taking advantage of excellent city views to the south and a view of the Greenvale Reservoir to the east. This will continue the trend for Greenvale in undergoing further residential development, with several new estates appearing in the suburb itself and in nearby areas such as Attwood

Greenvale Lakes

Greenvale Lakes is a housing estate located in the suburbs of Roxburgh Park and Greenvale close to the Greenvale Reservoir. It is being developed by PEET & PEET.

A new school has been built in Greenvale Lakes called Kolbe Catholic College Greenvale Lakes.

Fibre lines will not be laid in this new estate.

Local residents are upset that there is a lack of a main road from the estate. They were promised a main arterial road linking the new estate to Somerton Road in 2006.
In addition, none of the promised "parks and recreational areas" have been built, one of which was the much hyped Mount Aitken Reserve. This has left many new home owners feeling like they have been lied to and ripped off.

As of mid 2010 James Mirams Drive has been extended into the Greenvale Lakes estate; it is open to traffic and connects to Lysterfield Drive in 'The Pinnacle'.

This new road passes through the proposed "E14 Boulevard" aterial road, which (when finished) will stretch from Cragieburn through Greenvale Lakes to Somerton Road, Greenvale.
It is unknown why there have been such long delays in constructing this road.
The local Roxburgh Rise Primary School community has expressed their concerns about the traffic that flows down Bridgewater Road, as it is one of only two ways to exit the Greenvale Lakes estate.
