Following her loss to Graf at the 1992 Wimbledon Championships, Seles reportedly said the following: "I am still the best women's tennis player in the world. Steffi will never be No.1 again." Graf in the end did recapture the No. 1 ranking from Seles in June 1993, after Seles was forced out of the sport due to her stabbing.
