The adult males grow up to 14–16 mm (0.551181102362205–0.62992125984252 ) long, while the females reach 18–22 mm (0.708661417322835–0.866141732283465 )of length. They can be encountered from late July through mid-December, usually in dry or slightly moist habitats. They feed on grasses and various herbaceous plants.

The basic coloration of the body varies from dark brown to gray. The back often shows a uniform grayish color, with an orange tip of the abdomen in matures males. This species has characteristic clubbed antennae with whitish tips. The wings are present in both sexes.
