 formed in 1905.

History

The Redcoat Marching Band was started in 1905 as a division of the UGA Military Department. It started as 20 military cadets and has grown to include over 400 University students. Their first performance as a non-military group was in 1906 at a baseball game. In 1955, the Redcoat part of the band was added and auxiliaries were brought in. The addition of University of Georgia Georgettes, the Georgia Flagline, silver sousaphones, and new uniforms have all added to the prestige of the band. In 2000, the band won the Sudler Trophy and they were the first SEC

 band to receive this honor. During the 100th season of the band, they traveled to China, becoming the first marching band to tour the country.
