For his work at the High School, he has been named a Teacher of Excellence by the Teacher Excellence Center and was inducted into the Cum Laude society.
He was also chosen as one of ten Pennsylvania teachers to travel to EU and NATO headquarters in Brussels as part of a European Union program in 2004.

Personal life

Savarese was married in 2006 and currently has two children (Sophia and Giorgio) with his beautiful wife Tyra.
The pair resides in Lower Speers, Pennsylvania. Savarese has an outstanding knowledge of world affairs and has traveled extensively around the world. With relatives in Sorrento, Italy, Savarese also speaks fluent Italian as well. Raised in Pittsburgh's Bloomfield
