The Geneseo Journal was originally called the Geneseo Herald from 1887 to 1899, then it became Geneseo Post from 1908 to 1909. From 1979 through 1983 it was known as Geneseo Galaxy. Copies may be found in the Geneseo Kansas Museum located two blocks west of Main Street on Silver Street.

living together, 8.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 40.4% were non-families. 37.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 18.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.00 and the average family size was 2.60.
In the city the population was spread out with 18.4% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 20.6% from 25 to 44, 29.8% from 45 to 64, and 25.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 48 years. For every 100 females there were 107.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.8 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $20,795, and the median income for a family was $29,250. Males had a median income of $27,083 versus $20,000 for females. The per capita income
