Garthamlock was developed from 1954 onwards after the city bought the estate of Garthamlock House. The house iteself was demolished in 1955 to make way for a new secondary school.

The area is now a mix of local authority housing and private stock. Easterhouse

The Roadhouse Pub is home to the East Renfrewshire darts team, and plays host to the Glasgow Premier League.most of the old tenement buildings have now been demolished and replaced with more modern homes,the tenements that still stand have been reduced by one floor from three storey blocks giving a better look overall
