Overview

Gahmar is made up of 23 "Pattis" or Sections, each of which is like a small village itself. In its surrounding region there is a common belief that it is the largest village in Asia. Its population is around 75000 which is greater than khora and Loni Dehat in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh itself. Large number of migration may be one of the reasons of such confusion.
It is also called the Soldiers Village since you can find at least 09 soldiers from each home. There are many Ex-Soldiers who have served in the British Indian Army and have taken part in the "Second World War" and in "kargil war". There is a very famous saying in this part of region that "You can find 03 Soldiers and 02 Rifles (off course licenced) from each home. One of the most famous soldier belonged to this village is Capt.Ramrup Singh who fought during First World War and won gallantry award from the British Government. This Village has very high moral for Serving in the "Indian Army".
". The village is dominated by SIKARWAR ( SIKAR-RAJASTHAN ) RAJPUTS. Most of the population comprises all the sections of the society, and the people of the village live in peaceful atmosphere. They maintain a high degree of communal harmony. The village Gahmar is flanked by the river Ganges in northern side and a Railway station on the southern side. On the east the village has a Canal and it is connected with village Bara. On the western side sits the Holy Shrine of Maa Kamakhya DEVI, locally called Kamachcha MAI. People from all the adjoining areas of the village visit the holy shrine. It is believed that due to Goddess Eyes on village, the village is prosperous and peaceful. In Reotipur village a Bhagawati Temple is situated. Maa KAMAKHYA DHAM in GAHMAR is very famous place across India. It is situated at western side of Gahmar village. Maa Kamakhya Devi is "KUL DEVI" of Sikarwar Bansh OR Sakarwar Bansh of Rajput Caste. Maa KAMAKHYA Devi temple is situated in the Gadaipur village. In Navratras a large number of people come here to worship and get blessings of the Lordess. In the compound of Temple there are many shops of Prasad, One big sweeming Pool,One Forest Park/Garden,One big Rest hall & room/Office,few shop for refeshment(North Indian & Chinnes.
People come there to pray in their weak time. Its the inherent belief among the masses that Maa kamakhaya remains always with the person who remember and worship her always. It is also a belief that Maa Kamakhya goes in the battle field to save her children. Despite being so much soldiers (at least two in each family) in the village there is no history of casualty in wars of 1965, 1969, 1971 and Kargil. Spectators are of the view that due to the supernatural power of the Goddess Kamakhya and due to her blessings no bullet of the enemy even touches the bodies of soldiers.i would like to add one village more which name is DEWAKALI, near by Kamakhya maa.
