. Approximately 2300 students attend Franklin County High School, which was founded in 1950. Since its founding, Franklin County High School, commonly known as FCHS, has grown to the largest school in the state west of Richmond.

Today

The school covers twenty five acres and participates in 21 Varsity level sports. The current principal of FCHS is Mrs. Debora Decker, who succeeded Mr. William Gibson, in July 2006.
The campus of Franklin County High School contains eight classroom buildings, three gymnasiums, two cafeterias and an alternative education building. It also includes a 400 m track, and a 6,000-seat football stadium.
