He was known for being a modest person, not very concerned about money, but he used to joke after the game about the winning prizes, he used to say “Quando é que vem o tempero?” Translation: "When is the sauce coming?" referring to the winning prize money.

He played for 13 years with the SL Benfica jersey, And has received two honours for his dedication to the club "Sócio de Mérito" and "Águia de Prata".

National team

He made his debut for Portugal, against Spain in a 3-3 draw back in 1934. He was capped 10 times.
