In May 2008, Logan caused a political storm when he admitted that he badgered a female ministerial staffer into having sex with him and another employee of the government. The woman involved had stated that Logan had propositioned her to take part in a threesome on more than one occasion. Carpenter refused to sack Logan over the scandal, after Logan claimed it was a joke.
