G-Cannon has two other variants. One sports two VSBR's instead of shoulder mounted machineguns and the other variant sports even more firepower in the form of missiles, cannons and other armaments.

F90 Gundam Formula 90

After securing the Federation's contract, SNRI's first task was to develop a smaller, lighter, and more efficient mobile suit which could be adopted to various mission roles. Under the flag of the "Formula Project", SNRI designed and rolled out the F90 Gundam "Formula 90". The Gundam F90 certainly filled the EFF's bill, weighing in at a mere 17.8 tons fully loaded, packing enough rocket thrusters to achieve a maximum acceleration of 4.2 Gs, and equipped with 11 hardpoints all over its body, which would allow the Gundam to be equipped with a wide variety of external weapons, armor, or other equipment. Despite its slightly smaller size and lighter weight, the F90 still carried a standard armament of Vulcan guns, beam sabers, a beam rifle, and a shield in its "basic" configuration. However, the hardpoints - and the vast array of new weapons and equipment designed to be mounted on them - allowed for as many as 26 different variations on the basic F90 frame, making this Gundam a true multi-role unit. Initially, two F90 units would be constructed for test flights and evaluations by the Earth Federation Forces' 13th Autonomous Fleet.

However, the timing of the Gundam F90's rollout could not have been a mere coincidence when a remnant Zeon force, calling themselves the "Oldsmobile Army", made its appearance. During a test flight near Side 4 on October 28, U.C.0120, Gundam F90 Unit 2 was stolen by the Oldsmobile Army. This unit would be overhauled and deployed by the Oldsmobile Army, reconfigured into the OMS-90R Gundam F90, with Lt. Bosch, a Zeon sympathizer acting within the EFF, at the helm. After arriving on Mars, F90 Unit 1, piloted by EFF test pilot Def Stallion, encountered Bosch and the OMS-90R, leading to an intense battle in which Bosch revealed that most of the F90's skills were thanks to two unique AI systems in the Gundams: The "A.R.

" system in Unit 2. By the end of Def and Bosch's fight, the OMS-90R was destroyed, while the F90 Unit 1 had been severely damaged, losing its head and left arm. Although the EFF was victorious in the fight against the Oldsmobiles, with Def and the F90 Unit 1 returning from the fight, the destruction of both units dealt a severe blow. However, development of the Gundam F90 would continue for at least two more years, until the development and deployment of the much more advanced Gundam F91.

F91 Gundam Formula 91

The F91 represented the final goal of SNRI to develop a smaller, lightweight, high-performance mobile suit. Its compact size mounted enough weaponry to put it on par with other general purpose units at the time, and the F91 incorporated many advanced new technologies developed under the Formula Project, including the beam shield-defying Variable-Speed Beam Rifle ("VSBR" for short), and the revolutionary bio-computer system developed by Doctor Monica Arno. This system acted as a sort of "reversed" psycommu system, relaying information directly to the pilot's mind rather than vice versa.

The F91 prototype, originally manufactured by SNRI in UC 0116, was slowly upgraded and modified over the next several years. Its final assembly, which incorporated the bio-computer system, was cut short when the Crossbone Vanguard force began conquering the Frontier Side area in March U.C.0123. The Gundam F91 would perform superbly during the conflict, and its "after-images" ability would prove extremely useful for the pilot Seabook Arno

in his confrontation against Crossbone Vanguard leader Carozzo Ronah's deadly XMA-01 Rafflesia mobile armor.

Although initially developed as a prototype unit, the F91's performance during the Crossbone Vanguard conflict would later result in this Gundam being put into limited mass production. Some of these mass-produced F91s would be used by the Earth Federation Forces' in a war against the Jupiter Empire in U.C.0133.

XM-X (F97) Crossbone Gundam

Developed by the SNRI, the XM-X (F97) Crossbone Gundam actually began its life as the Gundam Formula 97. As part of an under-the-table deal, SNRI gave three such F97 units to Berah Ronah's (aka Cecily Fairchild) Crossbone Vanguard for use against the shadowy Jupiter Empire.

Designed to operate within Jupiter's immense gravity well, the Crossbone Gundams use a set of X-shaped thrusters on their backs to put out incredible thrust. Due to the thrusters' flexible nature, the Gundams were also highly maneuverable as well. Focusing primarily on close combat, the Crossbone Gundams feature a number of weapons based on those used by the pirates of the seven seas in Earth's distant past. These weapons included the buster gun and the cutlass-like beam zanber, which could be combined into a powerful beam rifle called the Zanbuster. Additionally, the Gundams' beam shields could also be used as punching daggers, leaving behind a distinctive X-shaped burn in whatever they struck. The rest of the Crossbone Gundams' armaments consisted of standard weapons such as vulcans and beam sabers. Their extra features included a special cloak treated with an anti-beam coating substance, allowing the Gundams to shrug off most standard beam rifle attacks.

F99 Recordbreaker

The F99 "Recordbreaker" made its debut in the manga Crossbone Gundam: The Seven of Steel. Manufactured by SNRI, the "Recordbreaker" is an experimental mobile suit meant to test the "Wings of Light" made famous by the V2 Gundam. Using the "Wings of Light" system, it is possible for the mobile suit to travel to Jupiter in only 150 hours.
