, it became incorporated in 1997. Recently, several community members and Western Carolina University
have proposed that the village of Forest Hills become the town/city of Cullowhee, incorporating the present Forest Hills boundaries and areas near Old Cullowhee Road and NC 107.

There were 156 households out of which 16.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.2% were married couples
living together, 1.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 51.9% were non-families. 31.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.12 and the average family size was 2.69.
In the village the population was spread out with 13.9% under the age of 18, 27.9% from 18 to 24, 14.5% from 25 to 44, 30.3% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 103.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.9 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $45,000, and the median income for a family was $64,375. Males had a median income of $38,750 versus $31,500 for females. The per capita income
