 started in 1982 as a one year program in international affairs. In 2005, it was endowed by Susan Ford Dorsey as the Ford Dorsey Program in International Policy Studies (IPS). This occurred in conjunction with the creation of the Freeman Spogli Institute of International Studies and is part of meeting the international goals of the Stanford Challenge. The IPS program is jointly run by the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies and the School of the Humanities and Sciences, with additional support from the Stanford Institute for Economic and Policy Research (SIEPR). Joint degrees from other Stanford programs include the MPP and J.D. degrees. A joint MBA degree is expected by 2012. It is an affiliate member of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA).

Student Body

IPS classes range from the 20 - 25 students per year and about half the class comes from a country other than the U.S. Average entering GRE scores for students is 650 for the verbal portion and 750 for quantitative portion.
