 for Barrow Borough Council. there was much speculation that the development would become a 'white elephant

' because a year after completion in 2008 the 1,600 sq/m of office space still remained vacant. The building is currently leased to a number of companies who use it largely for storage purposes. Emlyn Hughes House was built on the site of the former cinema which went by numerous names through its long history (including the Ritz, ABC, Astra and Apollo).
