It is the home of the Ellinikon International Airport

Much of the residential area is in the eastern part of Ellinikon, while the western part is smaller. A local controversy surrounds a new stadium to be built for Panathinaikos

, as many favour the Goudi team instead. Forested land dominates around the beach and the areas has some nightclubs; the area is located near the quarter of Agios Kosmas.

Prices of residences have risen in recent years. This is due to several reasons: Ellinikon is not only well connected to the centre of Athens through the new line of the Athens metro
