. The group was founded in 2002 and has grown to include several programs.

ERR is an Affiliate of the Freedom Area Recreation Council (FARC) which is an extension of the Carroll County Department of Recreation and Parks.

History

The Eldersburg Rogue Runners started out as an informal gathering of runners. Initially, the club provided a safe, informal way for area runners to train together during the summer while preparing for the upcoming Cross Country

 Season. The Club was founded by area residents Pete Lester & Jack Mull working with several key individuals including area coaches Dan Jones and Bobby Ward (ERR Board Members - Past and Present). The first Board was primarily made up of parents connected with a local high school, Liberty High School. However, the club has worked hard to maintain independence from the Carroll County Department of Education, so as to supplement the activities sponsored by area schools.

 (for area HS Athletes) to New York, Saturday Morning Bagel R-U-Ns, and a Summer Youth Track & Field Program.

While the club’s historical relationship to Eldersburg and LHS has been strong, the club continues to reach out to serve the community-at-large. Athletes from all 7 of the County’s high schools have participated in events sponsored by the club, and the club does hope to increase involvement among area high school athletes, particularly in the Southern part of Carroll County, MD where LHS, Century High School and South Carroll High School

With the increased emphasis in off-season training, the club had a positive influence as Liberty High School won three State Cross Country Championships in-a-row (2003, 2004 & 2005).

Additionally, adult members have fared well in area Relay Marathons particularly the Frederick Marathon Relay - 2006, 2005, where the club’s teams (both Men’s and women’s) placed in the top four 2 years in-a- row. Adult members have also qualified to run in the Boston Marathon

While many of the people involved with founding the running club are still involved, the Board leadership changes from time-to-time. Additionally, the club has a devoted group of volunteers who assist the club in having a positive impact on the community.
