Esri Australia was founded in 1977, with its original office located in Perth, Western Australia. Esri Australia has grown to seven capital city locations across Australia, with the most recent office opening in Darwin, Northern Territory in July 2009. Since 2003, Esri Australia’s head office has been based in Brisbane, Queensland. Esri Australia currently has over 160 employees.

Esri Australia’s solutions are used in dozens of industries throughout Australia, including all levels of government - local, state and federal, defence, education, emergency management, environmental management, health, insurance, land management and planning, mining, renewable energy, transportation and utilities.

granted Esri Australia the exclusive rights to demonstrate, promote, distribute and provide maintenance for Esri GIS software to end users in Australia, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Heard Island, McDonald Islands, Norfolk Island and Papua New Guinea.

Esri software products have one-third of the global market share. In Australia, Esri software is used by 72 percent of GIS users from all professions.

Ownership

Esri Australia is a subsidiary of Boustead Singapore Limited, a Singaporean engineering and technology company listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange. The second oldest established company in Singapore, Boustead celebrated its 180th birthday in 2008, and also is the major shareholder of fellow Esri software distributors Esri Singapore, Esri Indonesia and Esri Malaysia.

Dekho

Dekho, meaning “to look” in Hindi, is Esri Australia’s flagship geographic web application server. Dekho uses the location attribute inherent in over 80% of all corporate data to enable the integration of corporate information, systems and workflows through an easily accessible web portal. Dekho’s design is based on the integration principles established in Esri Australia’s first location intelligence gateway solution eView, which received a Consensus Software Award in 2003 for its "innovative ability to use geography as a data type, allowing users see their information sets collated and then plotted on a real map".
