Dudley Chase Denison was a United States Congressman from Vermont
.
He was born in Royalton, Vermont
, attended Royalton Academy, graduated from the University of Vermont
in 1840, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1845 and commenced practice in Royalton. He was a member of the Vermont State Senate in 1853 and 1854. Served as Windsor County State Attorney from 1858 to 1860, served in the Vermont House of Representatives
from 1861 to 1863. He was the United States Attorney
for the District of Vermont from 1865 to 1869 and elected as an Independent Republican
to the 44th United States Congress
and reelected as a Republican
to the 45th United States Congress
(March 4, 1875-March 3, 1879). He was not a candidate for reelection in 1878, but resumed the practice of law in Royalton. He died in Royalton on February 10, 1905 and is interred in the North Royalton cemetery.
He was the nephew of Dudley Chase
and cousin of Salmon P. Chase
