Geed worked at WALK Radio in Patchogue, Long Island as a reporter and anchor from 1981 until 1986 when he became one of the original members of News 12 Long Island

Geed has received 10 New York Emmy Awards as well as dozens of other regional, state and local awards, including Journalist of the Year from the Long Island chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists
