The Neptunes, meanwhile, lay down a taut, contemporary production comprising marching band beats, bouncy synths and an infectious "ey-ey-ey" hook. The result?  said, positively, that: "Did It Again is a bawdy little electro-number where the Neptunes get everything right, as bubbly synths and military drum patterns surround Shakira's vixen-as-tease lyrics—arguably Shakira's strongest suit—the whole thing perfectly apt for a weekend club excursion". Sal Cinquemani from Slant magazine opined that: "Did It Again features marching-bad percussion and an "Umbrella

on September 17 and September 18, 2009, in Los Angeles, California. It was released on October 30, 2009. A video for the Spanish version was also released. The video begins with Korean female drummers performing the "Samgomu" ("Three Drum Dance") as the beat starts. Shakira is seen in a sauna with her friends wearing all white outfits, and later the video cuts to a scene where Shakira is with her love interest (played by b-boy Daniel "Cloud" Campos) in a room where she openly challenges him to a romantic martial arts duel alone on top of the bed. Shakira initially gains the upper hand, but is outflanked by her love interest. After a few minutes, the competitors take a break to get intimate. After a few more moments, the competitors resume the battle. Although the love interest is powerful, he is no match for Shakira's advanced beauty and more focused combat skills. She manages to defeat him in combat. It also shows scenes of Shakira singing alone in the bed after winning the battle. In the last scene Shakira dances in a hall in a sequined outfit and the footage cuts in between scenes of Shakira and the Korean female drummers, drumming as Shakira is dancing.
