The company targets its products towards the mass market by a careful balance of product innovation, adequate performance and competitive price. Sonic performance and level of sophistication of product is sufficient only to gain acceptance by the mass market. It’s economy products are marketed by relying heavily on Artist Endorsements and thus are popular with guitarists everywhere.

DiMarzio became known for its (DP100) Super Distortion model, which was the first after market replacement guitar pickup available to the mass market. It is still one of the most popular models.

The Super Distortion pickup produced a higher electrical output than the pickups normally fitted as standard to guitars at the time. It has around twice the impedance of a PAF

Two of the technologies that they are known for are:

  • Dual-Resonance design (patented) which uses two asymmetrical coils tuned to different frequencies to produce unique sounds.


  • Airbucker (TM) design which reduces string pull and increases sensitivity and sustain.
