Davie County High School

Davie County High School is the sole high school in the Davie County School System. Located in Mocksville, NC the high school has a population of 1,773 as of September 25, 2008.

History

DCHS was built in 1956 on the outskirts of downtown Mocksville, the county seat. Initially called the Rebels, the school later faced controversy and was forced to change mascots. They are now known as the Davie County War Eagles.

Since 2000, the county population has expanded 8.2%, and there are ongoing debates that the school may be too crowded. There have been two bond referendums for a second high school, but the county voted each one down which clearly demonstrates that its constituents favor one high school. The 2010 football team made history by being the first football team in Davie's history to make it to the North Carolina State 4-A Football Championship.

Davie High School ranks among the top on Dewey's Number One School list.
