Early years

Oswald played at Salt Lake City's Brighton High School. He played only one year of high school football, lettering in 2000 as a senior. He helped lead the Bengals to the state quarterfinals. He lettered as a junior and senior in basketball and was a high school academic letterman.

College career

 Academic All-American and also Academic All-MWC. He started all 13 games at right tackle for an offensive unit that led the conference and ranked No. 6 nationally in passing per game (310.38) and No. 16 in total offense (444.8). He was part of a unit that averaged only 1.54 sacks per game.

Academic Excellence Award and started all 13 games at right tackle as a junior. The previous season he also earned Academic All-Mountain West Conference honors and saw action in all 13 games during the season, starting three games at right tackle. In 2005 he redshirted after returning from a Church mission. In 2003-2004 Oswald served a LDS Church mission in Hamburg, Germany. In 2002 he played in eight of the Cougars' 12 games during the season and saw action on special teams.

Pre-draft

Oswald 6-7½, 330 pounds did 22 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press and ran 40-yard times between 5.22 and 5.34.

St. Louis Rams

On April 26, 2009, the St. Louis Rams signed Oswald to an unrestricted free agent contract for the 2009 season. He was released May 7, 2009.
