. Mr Orton enthusiastically supported ATI acquisition by AMD and was one of the main driving forces behind it.

On July 10, 2007, AMD announced the resignation of Mr Orton from his position as Executive Vice President after only ten months with the organization. It was also noted that Mr Orton would not leave AMD to pursue any other employment, but would concentrate on "spending more time with his family".

He is now the CEO of Aptina, a privately-held image sensor company located in San Jose, CA.
