Benson-Phillips lives in Hanging Heaton with his wife Emma and their son Benjamin. He has a passion for music which he has had from an early age and 2 years ago was re-united with his teenage band to play lead guitarist in The Gullibles. He also runs a removal company and an inflatables hire company.

He is returning to the stage to star in a Christmas production of Jack & the Beanstalk at The Grange Theatre, Northwich, as the King of giddy oop on Wednesday 14th December to Saturday 31st December 2011.
