 competing mainly in category T37 sprint events. Thrupp has competed in five paralmpics winning at least one gold medal at each. His first medals at the Games were in 1992 when he won a gold medal in the C7-8 long jump, he followed this up in 1996 witha long jump gold in the F34-37 class and a bronze in the t37 class 200m. In 2000 in his home country he was a part of the winning T35-38 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams, this was followed in 2004 with a second gold in the 4x100m and bronzes in the T37 100m and T36-38 long jump. His fifth appearance in 2008 led to a third succsessive 4x100m relay gold medal. He won a bronze medal in the men's athletics 200 metres T37 event the 1996 Summer Paralympics
