In 1999 he won his second All Ireland medal. He is also the holder of 3 Leinster Senior medals. Darren has won 3 All Star awards. For the 2006 season Darren made himself unavailable for the Meath team but he returned to the Meath panel for the 2007 season.
On July 23, 2008 Fay confirmed his retirement after a shocking defeat to Limerick
