Hoesen was promoted to the first team in the summer of 2008. During the training season, he made a good impact and Fulham FC called him for a test period. After a successful test Fulham bought him for £400,000. Before moving to England, he made his debut for Fortuna on 15 August 2008, appearing as a substitute in an away match against Go Ahead Eagles

 on loan from 9 April until 30 August. He made his HJK debut on 16 April in a 5–0 league win over KuPS. He scored his first goal for HJK on 29 May 2010 in a 1-2 away victory over IFK Mariehamn

. Because of a serious hip injury, Hoesen was released from his loan deal on 25 July, more than one month before his contract with HJK would have expired. Towards the end of the 2010-2011 season, Hoesen was named on the bench in the league game against Sunderland, but he didn't make an appearance.

After recovering fully from his hip injury, Hoesen was made available for a loan deal, and on 24 July, he rejoined his old club Fortuna Sittard on loan.
