Club career

Dai Lin started his professional football career with Liaoning Zhongyu in 2005 with his debut match against Changsha Ginde F.C. on the 14th of April in a 2-0 win. A versatile player Dai Lin quickly established himself within the team throughout the league season and scored his first goal against Tianjin Teda on July 16 in a 1-0 win. He remained with the team for several further seasons when he helped Liaoning to several mid-table positions until the 2008 Chinese Super League

Dai Lin was included as part of the squad in the Football at the 2008 Summer Olympics - Men's tournament, he however did not play in any of the games. Despite his limited playing time with the youth set-up he would eventually graduate to the mens senior team once he became a integral member of the Shanghai's defence and go on to make his debut in a friendly against Latvia
