and when Sweden won the silver medal, he was naturally awarded one. Until recently curling in the 1924 Winter Olympics was thought to be a demonstration sport (i.e. not eligible for medals) but recent historical research led the IOC to declare that this was not the case unlike the subsequent 1928 Winter Olympics.
